14K Solid Gold

14K solid gold can last a lifetime if taken care of properly. Its durability make is a preferred choice for engagement rings, high-end pieces and permanent jewelry.

Is 14K Solid Gold Safe for Sensitive Skin?

Yes! This is a wonderful jewelry option as it is hypoallergenic for most people. With solid gold, there is an even lower amount of other material that can sometimes cause skin irritation. Please be aware, if you have extreme metal sensitivities and may react to even a small amount of copper or brass, you should always test your jewelry piece before wearing it as permanent jewelry.

Does 14K Solid Gold Jewelry Tarnish?

14K solid gold resists tarnishing better than any other permanent jewelry option. However, if exposed to lotions, perfumes or harsh chemicals over time, it may develop a slight patina over time. You can avoid this with regular, gentle cleaning with warm water and a mild soap.

Why Should you Select this Option?

14K solid gold jewelry is classic and timeless. Because of its resistance to everyday scratches, this option makes it ideal for permanent jewelry, but it does cost significantly more. Because of the huge increase for the price of gold, many solid gold chain, charms and bangle options are special order only for us.

Understanding your Options

14K Gold-Filled

14K gold-filled jewelry is a wonderful option for Permanent Jewelry! It provides a high quality and durable alternative to solid gold. Gold-filled consists of a thick layer of 14-karat gold that is heated and pressure bonded to a core metal. Unlike a gold plating option, which has a very thin layer of gold that can wear off quickly, gold-filled jewelry contains 100X more gold by weight. Because of this, your jewelry piece will last significantly longer.

How long does 14K Gold-Filled Jewelry Last?

If taken care of, your gold-filled jewelry will last between 10-30+ years. Because of the heated, pressure bonded process, the gold layer is thick and permanently bonded so that it does not flake, chip or rub off like gold-plated jewelry. This is also a wonderful option because it will withstand daily wear, exposure to water and some daily friction while keeping its normal appearance. As with all jewelry, please be mindful when exposing your 14k gold-filled piece to harsh chemicals and excessive moisture that can accelerate wear over time.

Is 14K Gold-Filled Safe for Sensitive Skin?

Yes! This is a wonderful jewelry option as it is hypoallergenic for most people. Because the outer layer is solid 14K gold, it should not cause irritation for individuals who can wear solid gold. Please be aware, if you have extreme metal sensitivities and will react to even a small amount of copper or brass, you should always test your jewelry piece before wearing it as permanent jewelry.

Does 14K Gold-Filled Jewelry Tarnish?

This is important to understand! The portion of gold in your jewelry will not tarnish, however, the small amount of other metals in 14K Gold can reach with oxygen, sweat, or harsh chemicals over time. Please do let this scare you as 14K gold-filled is still a wonderful option for permanent jewelry but it will never have the same quality of something that is solid gold.

Why Should you Select this Option?

14K Gold-Filled jewelry offers the beauty and luxury of solid gold that is still affordable to more customers. It is still more durable and long, lasting than any gold-plated options. This type of material will withstand everyday wear for customers that are seeking a high-quality, skin-friendly piece without the expense of solid gold. Due to the quality of 14K gold-filled material, we provide several options in our chains, charms and bangles!

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is an iron-based alloy that is best known for its strength, corrosion resistance and its longevity. This type of metal is primarily made up of iron, carbon and chromium. Other possible material can include elements such as nickel, molybdenum and manganese.

However, there are some grades of stainless steel that contain a higher percentage of nickel, which can trigger allergic reactions with individuals that have a nickel sensitivity. As with all metals, you should always test your jewelry piece before wearing it as permanent jewelry.

Stainless steel is highly unlikely to tarnish. Because of its thin, protective oxide layer on the surface, this helps prevent rust and deterioration.

Because of the lower costs of stainless steel, it is gaining popularity for many permanent jewelers. This is a great option for youth or anyone that plays sports! We will have a few options of stainless steel chains, however, we will not have charms or bangles options in this metal.

Enamel Chains

Enamel chains are typically always gold-plated. Please make sure to read through the gold-plated information to fully understand what this means! Enamel chains can add a fun, colorful addition to your permanent jewelry collection. With its lower price point, this may be the perfect option for anyone that does not want to spend a lot of money. This would also be a great option for younger kids! With this in mind, I would always recommend adding a clasp to any gold-plated enamel chain. While it can be a wonderful option, it is not made to be worn every day like the other types of metal.
